The Geomancer's Handbook by John Michael Greer is one of the leading book on Geomancy today. Greer studied ancient Geomantic texts that go back as far as 1591 to some of the most recent republication of ancient texts re-worked from Latin or Greek into English.
However, as with most of Greer's work, this work is also a study in the development of one's spiritually. The book goes well beyond the study of the sixteen geomantic figures and two basic layouts and explores Western Meditation as it applies to spiritual development through Geomancy.
What is little known is that Greer studied extensively with Christopher Warnock, not only a scholar on Geomancy but the foremost scholar on Renaissance Astrology today. It is refreshing to find an author willing to submit to serious study under a competent teacher before striking out and writing a work on a subject.
This is a book and divination tool that I personally have replaced Runes and other types of divination with completely. Over time, familiarity with the figures becomes second nature and if you follow Greer's suggested method of learning the figures, you quickly find that the book is no needed. It serves as an example of all great works. A foundation for a serious practitioner to lay spiritual development upon and look back at with great fondness and respect.
