When I was teaching (which I am no longer) I required my students to read the book Stranger in a Strange Land. One student in particular hated the book and it hung her movement forward in her instruction.
Later, she had the privilege to attend an official workshop held by the current Guardinarian Historian. The workshop opened when the Priestess asked, "Who has read A Stranger in a Strange Land?" My student was the only one.
Robert Heinlein wrote this book and you will find surprising phrases throughout. Common phrases utilized by Modern Witchcraft including, "The God (Goddess) in me, solutes the God (Goddess) in you."
The book chronicles the experience of an alien come to Earth and the church that alien starts. Be forewarned that adult language and sexual situations are part of this work. The Church of All Worlds got it's start with this work of fiction.

Marcassa when I seen that title the first thing that came to mind was a song that 30 Seconds to Mars have I'm a bit biased about them as there one of my favorite bands lol, for awhile I've be debating if I should class them as an esoteric band or not but the more I think about it I would class their music as esoteric to a certain extent no one I know has ever heard of them even though their pretty well known now, also their music is definitely of the marmite category you either hate them or love them and when I read a bit about the book and found that the main character returned to earth from mars it made think of 30STM even more and their first self titled album which is about personal experience and struggles has throughout the album a space theme, with their third latest album its more about a spiritual war with yourself which is the album the song "Stranger in a Strange Land" is from, This book has got me quite intrigued so much so I bought it this afternoon just waiting on the post now and looking forward to reading it. P.s I've added a YouTube video link for the song it has a very long intro and contains some explicit lyrics(I personally myself love the intro www.youtube.com/watch?v=RmOIDAa3Dy0Love and Light OpalRaven

Given their symbol is the symbol for Air which is often associated with the inner discovery of symbolism I would probably classify them as esoteric!
I listen to the music and liked it! You should review them in the section in the Discussion forums. I think a lot of us would enjoy it!

Brysing it should be quite easy to pick up if you have a local book shop near you like Waterstones or a Borders they should have it. Or if you are able to buy with online shopping you can pick up a new copy from Waterstones on-line tinyurl.com/5w3cc48 or you can buy used copies as well from Amazon tinyurl.com/6z9kdhpI bought a used copy from Amazon as I like the older versions of books and the smell of them Love and Light OpalRaven

I have now bought a used copy (in first class condition) from Amazon. Cost £4:50. It is the original, uncut edition. And I started to read it last night. I have reached page 151, and am already fascinated by Valentine Smith!

I have now read Stranger In A Strange Land; marked some pages for further reading. Well, there are quite a few good philosophical arguments; and analogies to other religions,in particular the Christian "God is killed, and eaten, and causes other "branches of belief" to spring up in his name". (I loved the description of Rodin viewing a pretty girl! imprisoned in an old woman.) However, I found it all rather far-fetched; even though very interesting and thought provoking. Nevertheless, I grok it!

The book does emphasise one idea that all witches have; that anybody showing "magical" powers is suspect. I think if Jesus was alive today he would be gently escorted to the nearest Mental Hospital. But not killed. We don't burn witches any more.
